Jerry Drake And The Front Page Big Band: A Tribute To The Big Bands |
 |
Jerry Drake has a smooth classic jazz vocal delivery, reminiscent of, perhaps, a Mel Torme.
Even though the album is called A Tribute to the Big Bands, it's not cover music of classic 30s and 40s swing tunes. It's not Benny Goodman's sensational "Stompin' at the Savoy" that kicks off the CD but Drake's original composition "Doin' the Savoy," which is punchy and upbeat enough to grab your attention.
